I recently became a mom to a little human (I have been a mom to my "fur babies" for some time now). It has been an incredible journey to motherhood, but it has also brought a lot of challenges and changes to my life. I started thinking about grace and patience. I talk with my patients about self-compassion regularly, but even therapists need a reminder to live what they preach. What better time to give yourself grace, honor your needs, and be patient with yourself than after giving birth and taking care of a newborn? Regardless of what changes you have in your life at the moment, stop and take a minute to give yourself grace. Be patient with yourself as you adjust. Allow yourself to have hard moments, days, weeks, etc... Most importantly, be sure to reflect on what you are needing and to honor those needs. A friendly reminder for us all.
